Capitol Coffee House

Capitol Coffee House
Identity | Branding
The Capitol Coffee House sits right across the street from the iconic State House on Beacon Hill in Boston. Currently brandless, it is a small coffee shop serving cheap, tasty breakfast, lunch and of course, coffee to college students and politicians in the area. A student hangout, it is also a top meeting place for State House politicians due to its laid back atmosphere.

The two colors in the logo: brick red/brown and gold represent the historical red brick of Beacon Hill and the State House’s iconic gold dome. For the mark, I created a stylized image of the State House, as it is a distinctive feature in the Boston skyline and a landmark to place the shop. In order to fit in with the historic, Beacon hill surroundings, I gave the logo a classic, somewhat old-fashioned look that matches the other signage on the hill.
